The TTL Model
Telek Training Lab offers specialized conditioning and strength virtual coaching and programming designed for athletes of all caliber and skill levels looking to find a competitive edge in the expanding universe of fitness sports. The foundation of our coaching and program design is to help athletes build efficient and powerful metabolic engines that translate to success in a variety of different fitness applications.
Our athletes train to excel in an array of fitness endeavors - HYROX, Spartan and obstacle course racing (OCR), competitive CrossFit, marathons, triathlons and other endurance events as well as military selection preparation. All of these tests of fitness have one baseline requirement in common: the need to efficiently and effectively produce power output across a wide spectrum of time horizons - from 10-12 minutes in a CrossFit metcon to 10-15 hours for an Ironman triathlon. Athletes who are looking to perform in any (or all) of these domains need to be able to utilize and optimize the spectrum of energy systems that allow for this kind of output.
Our view is that when it comes to competitive fitness, training the athlete creates the foundation for training the sport (or, in our world, the “application”).
Our training programs are based on increasing your fitness output and work capacity (think, performance, pace, etc). While we offer more specialized program design for sport-specific application, at TTL, we do more with less - meaning our programs don’t require the high level of skill demanded from most CrossFit methodologies. We focus on basic lifting (squat, hinge, push, pull and carry) and cyclical conditioning (running, rowing, biking, etc). With this smaller universe of movements, we can better target the training stimulus without getting stuck on high skill movements, not to mention decreasing the impact on the body from performing certain high skill movements with less than Olympic level technique.
